Boosting excellence - Strategic Partnership Initiative

A Strategic Partnership Initiative  between the Public Research Organisations of Luxembourg, namely the CRP Gabriel Lippmann, CRP Henri Tudor, CRP-Santé and the University of Luxembourg, and three world-renowned US Institutions, respectively the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) of Phoenix, the Institute for Systems Biology (ISB) of Seattle and the Partnership for Personalized Medicine (PPM) of Phoenix, was launched in 2008 with the aim of boosting the development in Luxembourg as a centre of excellence in the area of Molecular Medicine..This initiative has subsequently resulted in the creation of two key infrastructures and the implementation of one demonstration project:

Whereas the IBBL acts as a centerpiece gathering biotechnology and bioinformatics capabilities able to provide an integrated portfolio of services dealing with sample collection to data analysis, the LCSB and its three research units (Experimental Neurobiology, Computational Biology and Metabolomics) unravel, in an innovative way, the complex mechanisms of Parkinson’s disease and diabetes. In parallel to the collaborative project on lung cancer biomarker discovery, the CRP Santé is also developing a health economics approach to evaluate the costs of current lung cancer treatment in Luxembourg.
